Counselling and Psychotherapy offers a safe and confidential space to be heard and supported in resolving unsatisfactory or distressing aspects of your life. Much of how we function in our daily lives happens through unconscious patterns. Psychotherapy and mindfulness practices can guide you in raising awareness of the patterns that are not serving you, and support you in shifting beliefs, behaviours and emotional patterns that are keeping you stuck where you no longer wish to be. Whether your challenges are physical, emotional or psychological, the therapeutic process can inspire and release you to move forward in healthier and happier ways.

Natasha Edney’s practice includes working with adults in individual and couples therapy for:
• Chronic Illness and Chronic Pain
• Anxiety and Depression
• Childhood Trauma and Abuses
• Relational and Event-based Trauma including PTSD
• Bereavement
• Couples Counselling
• Parenting and Relationship Challenges
• Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
• Spiritual Crises

Have you experienced trauma?
As part of the therapeutic experience, Natasha offers Relational Somatic Trauma Resolution. Trauma can happen through dysfunctional relationships in our early or later years, as well as through shocking and traumatizing events. It is now understood that trauma is held in the body and nervous system as well as in our memory. Using somatic (body) processing, you will be guided to gently and safely move these traumas through, enabling you to move forward with more ease and well-being in your life.

Natasha Edney, psychotherapist, trauma counsellor, group facilitator and leader of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction programs facilitates this group to provide an opportunity for individuals to connect with others who understand their experience, while gaining resources to support them in building self-care strategies for returning to a fuller, healthier and more resilient life.

Natasha Edney is a Transpersonal Psychotherapist, group and workshop leader, Mindfulness teacher and Relational Somatic Trauma Therapist. Having started her working life as a barrister-at-law, she soon realized that her calling was in the world of counselling and integrative healing, so in 1999 Natasha began training as a Transpersonal Psychotherapist at the Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy Education in London, England.

On completion of her training, Natasha moved to Canada in 2004 where she subsequently became certified as a Relational Somatic Trauma Resolution Therapist, was registered as a Master Therapeutic Counsellor with ACCT, and attended the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction teacher training program at the Centre for Mindfulness Studies in Toronto.

Natasha has worked as a psychotherapist in private practice in Nelson since 2005. She works with adults (including young adults) in both individual and couples therapy. Her practice specializes in chronic pain and trauma, but also includes working with anxiety and depression, bereavement, parenting and relationship issues, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, spiritual crises, or working with those who are simply seeking greater self-awareness, increased ease, healthier choices and healthier relationships in their lives. Natasha has a special interest in exploring the connection between physical symptoms/disease and unresolved emotional/psychological challenges. As a survivor of thyroid cancer, she brings a deep and personal understanding of the multi-layered experience of living with chronic illness and dis-ease in the body/mind, including the associated grief and anxiety.

Natasha is a Mentor for the BC Adaptive Mentorship Network, supporting practitioners working in chronic pain, mental health and substance use. She is a facilitator of Pain BC’s Making Sense of Pain Program, and sat on the Kootenay Boundary Chronic Pain Steering Committee. For many years she designed and ran personal growth retreats under the umbrella Inner Vision Workshops, and was a facilitator of the Awakening of Love workshops (part of the international, transformational Path Retreats program). She also teaches the scientifically supported Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction program.

Natasha uses an integrative approach to practice. She has found that trauma-informed Somatic (body-centred) Therapy is a fundamental component in the process of healing on all levels. In addition she uses attachment-based talk therapy, guided visualizations, chair work, mindfulness practices, working with dreams, and the building of your toolbox for resourcing and resilience. Whatever your life circumstances, Natasha brings compassionate presence and insightful inquiry to support you in your healing journey.

As part of the Solis Integrative Health Centre team Natasha hopes to offer you tools that will enable you to reach your hopes and dreams and live a transformed and healthy life.

TESTIMONIALS: “Natasha is a superior therapist. She provides the perfect balance of giving advice, delving into feelings, and connecting to where emotions are being stored in the body. Her personality allows for a very comforting and supportive experience. I’ve never felt judged, and hence, feel like I can share deeply. She has a gift for identifying deep seated patterns, and offering practical advice on how to break them and move forward in a healthy way. I’ve recommended her over and over to many friends, and she gets nothing but rave reviews from everyone who sees her.” M.A. Nelson BC

“Compassionate, kind and superbly skilled. If you are suffering from chronic pain or post-trauma, Natasha is adept at providing a healing environment” A. Castlegar. BC
